"Friendship is a two way street, not a one way road.
I have always been one to value friendships more than anything else AND having it be equally valued from BOTH sides.
There is nothing more exhausting than trying to keep a friendship when it's one sided. It sucks feeling like your being completely taken for granted.
Lately, in many, many areas of my life I have asked several people if they could get together soon, even for a minute, WEEKS IN ADVANCE. Just to get a reply along the lines of, "I'm too busy." That hurts and is incredibly draining. It's important to consider how much the other person actually values the friendship.
Am I walking around with, "at your convenience" written on my for head??
I understand that people are busy... or get married... or have kids... and so on...
But I am way busy and somehow I still manage to try to find the time to let those I care about or I know need a friend, in.
I have always prided myself with being a good friend to others. It is very important to me and always will be. Hell, I'm not saying I am perfect BUT I do realize when I have been a bad friend or am slacking and I do make sure I let that certain individual know how much I value and appreciate their friendship. Those of you who know me know that I have the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone. I have now realized how badly people are taking advantage of that... I'M DONE.
In my opinion, the stupidest thing you can do is not keep in touch or try to keep a friendship going.
Just because your life is busy you never know what that friend might need. Even a simple text saying, "Hey I am thinking of you." or a quick lunch can make all the difference in the world. And who knows, someday down the road, you may be the one who needs a friend, and you might go to that person and they just won't be there because you didn't give them the time of day when they needed it so why should they be there for you.
K.. I'm starting to get off topic.
"I will always be there for you" is the biggest load of crap I've heard recently. I know I'm not only speaking for myself but I am talking for so many other people.
I am a true believer when it comes to God putting the exact people we need in our lives, in our lives. We do have our free agency though.
Do something to show your friends you appreciate them.
& thanks to my close friends who have been there for me through this hell time I've been going through. I love you guys.
If you read this, thanks. Let me know. Sorry for all the complaining. ;)
